DUBAI Abu Dhabi's Early Childhood Authority has launched its new headquarters – a pioneering space that inspires adults to view the world through the lens of a child. The 1800 sq ft office, based at al mamoura tower in Abu Dhabi, will be home to the 100 strong team of team of ECD experts charged with shaping the future of young children 0-8 years old to flourish, with a strategy that focuses on early care and education, health and nutrition, family support, and child protection in Abu Dhabi. The space blends playful and colourful elements with a cutting-edge approach to workspace design.

Early Childhood Authority Abu Dhabi는 어른들이 어린이의 렌즈를 통해 세상을 보는 공간이다. 아부다비의 al mamoura tower에 위치한 1800 sq ft 규모의 오피스는 0~8세 아이들의 미래를 위해 연구하는 약 100여 명의 ECD 전문가 팀이 상주하고 있다. Early Childhood Authority Abu Dhabi는 일반적인 오피스와 달리, 어린 시절의 향수를 불러일으키는 장난기 넘치는 공간이다. 동시에 작업자인 어른들을 위한 성숙함이 혼합된 독특한 인테리어를 자랑한다. 스튜디오는 조기 보육과 교육, 건강, 영양, 가족 지원, 어린이 보호에 앞장서는 이곳의 특성을 고려해 각 공간마다 동심을 자극하는 다양한 콘셉트를 부여했다.

내부를 아기자기하게 물들인 색상 체계는 색채 심리학자와 협업을 통해 결정됐다. 에너지를 고취시키기 위한 오렌지, 진정과 휴식을 위한 블루 컬러가 공간을 다채롭게 장식하고 있다. 의자, 테이블, 램프 등 가구 역시 공간에 따라 서로 다른 디자인을 큐레이팅 했다. 감각적인 오피스 전체 콘셉트에 맞게 곡선 형태의 모서리로 안전성과 부드러운 분위기를 강화했다. 인체공학적 가구는 물론, 수유실 및 직원들의 자녀를 위한 공간을 설계해 일상 업무에서 항상 아이들을 기억할 수 있게 만든다.

Pallavi Dean, creative director of design firm Roar, explained: "The big design challenge was this: create a space that grabs attention with the playful nature of childhood, while at the same time being a mature office." Dean added: "We had to keep reminding ourselves that it's not a space for kids – it's a space for adults who are making decisions about kids. The outcome is a sophisticated workplace for ECD professionals to do their job – from deep, solo work to collaboration – but with a warm, funky, playful vibe." The ECA space is littered with examples that straddle these two worlds. The lobby grabs attention with a lifesize fluffy monster called 'Big Blue'. He greets guests with a playful smile – immediately creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and child-centric. The colour palette of the lobby is vibrant and rich, while the textures of the furniture and walls are soft and tactile.

ECA 직원들 중 대다수가 아이들과 함께 출근한다. 이들을 위한 키즈존에는 폭신한 소재의 안전한 놀이시설이 마련됐다. 산모와 자녀가 안락하게 휴식할 수 있는 수유실에는 부드러운 질감과 몸을 기댈 수 있는 가구를 배치했다. 미팅룸은 가구와 마찬가지로 두 개의 룸이 동일하지 않도록 개별적인 디자인을 구현했다. 어린이 중심이지만 유치하지 않은 공간, Early Childhood Authority Abu Dhabi는 교육에 초점을 맞춘 업무 공간에 대한 기준을 높였다.

Moving inside, the design narrative is based on the synapses of a child's brain: a series of hubs connected by organic, flowing walkways. Meeting rooms are individually designed; no two are the same. One has a custommade felt map of the UAE; another has walls adorned with playful heads of indigenous UAE animals, including oryx and gazelle. The colour scheme was developed with a colour psychologist, with orange spaces to inspire energy and blue spaces to soothe and relax. Furniture was curated, not just ordered. No two chairs, table or lamps are the same; each one is selected to add the right function, the right ambience, for each corner of the ECAworkspace. See supplier list. The kid zone is a place for children to hang out and have fun. Many of the ECA staff have young children, so a crèche facility was a must-have. Similarly, the maternity room sets a new benchmark for spaces for nursing mothers, with soft textures and reclining furniture.

전체적인 디자인의 네러티브는 아이들의 시선을 분석한 결과에 기초하고 있다. ECA 오피스에는 키덜트만의 세계를 잘 반영하는 마스코트가 로비를 지키고 있다. '빅 블루(Big Blue)'라고 불리는 솜털 괴물 인형은 장난기 어린 미소로 이곳을 찾는 손님들을 맞이하곤 한다. 공간의 첫인상을 좌우하는 로비의 색상 팔레트는 활기차고 풍부하며, 가구와 벽의 질감은 부드럽고 촉감이 좋다. 또한 ECA의 디자인은 UAE의 역사와 문화에 대한 강력한 메시지를 전달한다. 내부에 유기적으로 흐르는 보행로는 일련의 허브들을 각각 통과하게끔 설계됐다. ECA의 두 미팅룸 중, 하나는 UAE의 맞춤형 펠트로 제작한 맵(Map)을 보유한 것이 특징이다. 또 다른 방은 오릭스, 가젤 등의 UAE 토착 동물들의 매력을 담은 포인트로 장식됐으며, 아랍에미리트의 초대 대통령인 Zayed bin Zayed al Nahyan의 이야기가 벽에 투영되었다. 통치자들의 전통적인 2D 초상화는 3D 인쇄 흉상으로 감상할 수 있다.
